Fiber-Optic Dispersion (FOD) Project
This experiment aims to determine the dispersion characteristics of a an Er-30, erbium doped fiber. This fiber serves as the active gain medium in the High Power Pulsed Fiber Laser that is also being worked on. With the appropriate combination of gain medium and passive fiber in the ring cavity, zero net dispersion can be achieved. This allows for a shortening of pulses.
